He is no stranger to the music industry, and Camar Doyle, more popularly known as Flava Unit, is gearing up to make himself a force to be reckoned with in 2014.

The entertainer has re-invented himself and now goes by the moniker King Camar, and has once again partnered with Jammy 'Jam2' James, son of the renowned record producer King Jammy to put together his debut album.

The two have begun working on King Camar's album which is slated for release by summer.

In an interview with The Gleaner, King Camar said the album has been in the works since late last year.

"We started working on the album last year, but we were taking our time to make sure it is the best it can be."

SOMETHING UNIQUE

Working from the studious of the iconic King Jammys, King Camar, who is also a producer, said that he and Jam2 wanted to create something unique, and so they began working on his album, which will feature a 'yard-soul' vibe they hope will appeal to all corners of the world.

"We are going to incorporate sounds from the past with modern beats to create something special," Camar said.

Camar's album will have a classic reggae and dancehall vibe, but will integrate sounds from all over the world, the artiste explaining that the approach was taken to ensure Jamaica's music continues to be far-reaching.

The two also listed cultural retention as a reason for the approach.

King Camar says his focus is good music and maintains that his album will steer clear of what he says is the raunchy turn the music has taken.

"I will talk about the real issues. I won't focus on the songs that talk about whining and di bruk out ting."

He and Jam2 will also give back to the Waterhouse and Dunkirk communities by mentoring the youth on various aspects of the industry and teaching them that there is always a career in various areas of the complex industry.

"I believe the youths are the future and we want to use our knowledge to empower them and give them hope."
