14-14-14 foodie delight

It was a festival of weddings and what is a celebration without food, which was on surplus at the 14-14-14 wedding celebration on Valentine's Day last Friday.
Before the full moon shone on the reception while guests were waiting on the brides to finish their photo ops, MiddleEarth Catering and Catering by Lorraine were serving up tantilising appetisers to die for.
MiddleEarth served up delicious pizza pods that contained chicken, tomato, sweet pepper and cheese, chicken flat bread pizza, and ackee pods.
The cakes were masterpieces that showcased Jamaica's growing and superb talent in the pastry industry. However, the highlight of the night came from the showcase of talent by three top chefs that ensured that they put their 'best hands' forward in preparing first-class dishes for the brides, the grooms and their guests.
highlight
Brian Lumley's hit was his apple and cheese stuffed jerk chicken breast served with sweet corn and parsley, jasmine rice, accompanied by sautéed market vegetables.
Eskay Catering was another hit with their appetiser called the Colour of Eskay. Stephen Hamilton, owner of Eskay Catering, wanted to highlight his company, thus prepared in a martini glass, a colourful array of vegetables topped with basil balsamic vinaigrette. Their main course consisted of the following elements in layers; fried bammy, grilled guava smoked pork chop, caramelised cane, and another pork chop topped with cool cucumber salsa drizzled with red-wine reduction. The scent of the pork filled their tent and was enough to make a vegan fall off their wagon.
Catering by Lorraine had a more sentimental design to their delicious menu. For their appetiser, they prepared their veggie spring roll with lychee and chilli sauce. The veggie spring rolls looked like gold bars, which means riches in abundance for the Chinese.
The entrée was delicious hoisin chicken, which is symbolic of fertility, served with the Buddha Delight. The Buddha Delight consists of eight vegetables, with the number eight being a good luck number in Chinese, and thus means that this will give the couple good luck. All these dishes were complemented by noodles, which are symbolic of long life.
So the festival of love, 14-14-14, ended under the moonlight with delicious food and 14 couples ready to embark on a new journey. Today, Food shares some of the delectable eats from the spectacular affair.
