Partying for the Boyz - Digicel's tailgate shindig to highlight pre-game show
Before the Reggae Boyz face off with arch nemesis Panama on Friday, there will be a groundswell of support even before patrons to the National Stadium take their seats inside.
In the parking lot of the National Stadium, telecommunications giant Digicel will be hosting what is called a tailgate party.
The party will include, first of all, the giveaways of credit, phones, thunder sticks and horns.
The Digicel Gig rig will be complemented by Downsound Records artistes, performing to engage the crowd in the meeting area.
Prior to a game, there are always those vendors who don't get an opportunity to ply their trade in a meaningful way because all they are able to do is try to attract persons as they pass.
Potential earnings
The tailgate party promises to create an environment where persons will stop, giving vendors more of a chance to earn from being on the outside of the National Stadium on Friday.
Digicel's entertainment input on Friday won't stop there, however, as the half-time show, which the company sponsors, will include up-and-coming reggae star Chronixx.
"Digicel has been a proud sponsor of the Reggae Boyz since 2003 and since then, we have enjoyed a great relationship with the Jamaica Football Federation and the Reggae Boyz," said Tahnida Nunes, sponsorship manager at Digicel.
"Recognising that Jamaicans have a deep passion for football and with Digicel being a strong supporter of sports in Jamaica and across the region, we are always looking for ways to engage and entertain fans when they come out to the games.
"The Digicel tailgate party therefore presents us with a great opportunity to engage football lovers and ensure that they have a wholesome football experience - even ahead of the match - while at the same time, giving them the chance to win some great prizes."
Outside of the hopes that patrons support the tailgate party, Nunes appealed to the country to get behind the efforts of the Reggae Boyz.
"We encourage everyone to come out, support the Boyz, and have fun," she said.
