Is Crime Stop working?
THE EDITOR, Madam:
FOR MANY years, Crime Stop Jamaica has been pleading with the public to report violent crimes that are being committed by murderers and criminals. We have seen many Crime Stop ads in the papers, and have also heard them on the radio, of the many victims who have been brutally murdered. And Crime Stop offering hefty rewards for information leading to the arrest and charge of the person or persons responsible for these senseless killings.
But, we do not know if Crime Stop is being successful in getting the public in reporting the culprits of violent crimes. Neither do we know if they are catching the killers. Therefore, we are kindly asking Crime Stop to give us an update as it pertains to its request. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated, and doing so may help in speeding up the process.
But, let’s ask these few questions: Are they dead serious about controlling crime when they are not attacking the gun trade? When criminals are not being severely punished? When corruption is so rampant? When they are not hanging the killers? The list goes on.
Jamaica has another big problem: We are not catching the gun ‘bwoys’. So, people will continue to die senselessly. It seems that these gun pests are covered and protected by some obeah man; because no stone is being left unturned, and yet our police and armed forces cannot find the buggers. And look how small the country is!
Jasmine Dean, Colleen Walker, and many more, are some of our people who have been brutally murdered and kidnapped, and the culprits are not being apprehended.
