Several roads in Portland are now blocked and others damaged following heavy rains over the past four days.

The National Works Agency (NWA) said in the Buff Bay Valley, the main road between Tranquility and Bangor Ridge, between Mile Posts 6 and 8 has been reduced to single lane traffic.

The Balcarres to Wakefield main road is also reduced to single lane access at Silver Hill between Mile Posts 33 and 34.

There are several blockages along the Buff Bay to Balcarres roadway, in the community of Old Station, between Mile Posts 36-38.

According to the NWA, there are blocked drains and land slippages along the main road between Hope Bay and Chips Hall in the vicinity of Cooling Spring.

The main road from Chips Hall to Durham Gap is also being affected by blocked drains and severe scouring in the community of Fruitfulvale.

In Eastern Portland the main road from Windsor to Moore Town has been badly scoured in Seamans Valley.

The NWA is advising motorists to drive with caution along this roadway.

In the meantime, the Junction main road in St Mary, which was blocked in Georgia and Broadgate, is now clear.

The Evondale to Iterboreale main road just outside of Enfield is blocked by debris and silt.

The NWA said technical officers in the affected parishes have been dispatched along to clear the roadways and carry out cleaning up exercise.
