A man was arrested after making two hoax phone calls saying a bomb had been planted at the airport amid tight security for today’s World Cup draw in South Africa.

Superintendent Vish Naidoo said police working with other law enforcement agencies were able to quickly establish that the bomb threat was a hoax and tracked the man down to a suburb in Cape Town.

In another security threat, sniffer dogs and a bomb disposal unit were brought to Cape Town International Convention Center and entrances sealed off.

People were allowed back into the building about an hour later when police said the threat was over.
