Hamlet on screen this Sunday
Rory Kinear is back in National Theatre's Hamlet, on screen this Sunday at Palace Cineplex, Liguanea, showing at 11:30 a.m.
Patsy Scott, former United Nations (UNIDO) representative, says "fantastic production. The acting was superb and the audience reaction was wonderful".
Hon Emil George, attorney-at-law, says "excellent, first-class performance. I'll definitely come again!"
Word is out in local circles that National Theatre performances are a "must see". The audience at the debut performance of Othello were thrilled with the play and especially with the lead actors, one of whom was Rory Kinear in the role of Iago.
stellar enactment
Shakespeare fans are in for a treat as Kinear, a highly accomplished Shakespearean actor, will play the role of the melancholy Prince in what is sure to be a stellar enactment of Shake-speare's Hamlet, directed by Nicholas Hytner. The Olivier Award-winning Kinear is joined by Clare Higgins (Gertrude), Patrick Malahide (Claudius), David Calder (Polonius), James Laurenson (Ghost/Player King) and Ruth Negga (Ophelia).
The National Theatre in London is one of the UK's most prominent publicly funded theatre companies. The theatre presents a varied programme, including Shakespeare and other international classic drama, as well as new plays by contemporary playwrights.
camera placement
Though each live broadcast is filmed in front of a live audience in the theatre, cameras are carefully positioned throughout the auditorium to ensure that cinema audiences get the 'best seat in the house' view of each production. Where these cameras are placed is different for each broadcast, to make sure that cinema audiences enjoy the best possible experience every time.
National Theatre encore performances, on screen at Palace Cineplex, will run until June.
