The Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ) on December 14 spread Christmas cheer in the Greenwich Farm community with its annual Christmas Treat. The treat was held at the Holy Name Catholic Church located on East Street in the community.

Held each year for the elderly of the Greenwich Farm and the students of the SAJ-sponsored Marcus Garvey Basic School (MGBS), the treat saw 100 elderly and the 42 students of MGBS receiving gifts from the SAJ. The elderly were treated to bags of groceries while the students received a variety of toys.

The SAJ provides year-round assistance for the Marcus Garvey Basic School through the provision of grocery items monthly and financial sponsorship towards teachers' salaries. The Association also supports Greenwich Farm through twice-monthly free clinics for members of the community.
