St Ann councillor gives life to Christ, encourages others to do likewise

Ian Bell, councillor of the Beecher Town division in St Ann, responded to the call to give his life to the Lord and was among 122 persons who got baptised in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Ocho Rios, last Saturday.

Bell, who is a member of the People's National Party, had attended a crusade at the church which was held under the theme 'It's Time to Answer Your Call'.

"Today, April 30, 2011, is 10 full years that I have walked away from this church, 10 full years and the only regret that I have is that I stayed so long away from the Lord," said Bell, while standing in the pool.

Bell was previously baptised in 1974 at the Sheffield Adventist Church by Pastor Wellesly H. Gunter.

After his baptism, Bell said he did not leave the church because of political duties.

"There were other reasons. However, I believe that you can dispense your duties as the Lord requires, as there should be no politics in God's business. But it all depends on your motive and the purpose for which you serve the people. If you want to represent the people to whom you are elected to serve, you can also represent God at the same time because with Jesus you can make it," he said.
