'Chrismus Barrel'

It was a 'Chrismus Barrel' of fun on Wednesday, December 1, as Innovative Ideas hosted its media appreciation Christmas party at the OGM Building courtyard along Ardenne Road, St Andrew.
There was an emphasis on eyewear, and each guest had to choose, ahm, 'creative' spectacles, all representing the various clients who bank on the Innovative Ideas' team. The event's perennial DJ, Glen 'Titus' Campbell, delivered copious amounts of Christmas music with a Jamaican flavour. But ably assisted by DJ Karim, he also doled out some smooth lovers rock, including a few hits from the late Gregory Isaacs.
Innovative's founder Christine-Ann Bell, asked trivia questions, giving away various products. The highlight of the evening though was the production, Chrismus Barrel, by the Independent Actors Movement. It portrayed a family whose estranged members are reunited after a barrel with goodies came for them. The in-fighting and hilarious squabbling of the family was reminiscent of many Jamaican households. Ultimately, they reconcile, proving that material possessions can't take the place of true love.
It turned out that the contents of the Chrismus Barrel (which was also the theme of the party) were for the guests. At least, after they either had answered more trivia questions about Innovative's clients, or showed off their singing/dancing/DJ skills. Throw in a few tongue twisters and laughter was never far away.
Guests out included: Maurice Foster, Jackie Mighty, Lorraine Green, Errol Gregory, Alfred St P Grant, Sandra Glasgow, Cecil Thoms, Riddick Coke, Lisa Johnston, David and Kim Mair, Karl McLarty, Patrick Foster, Petulia Clarke, Julian Richardson, Oliver Mair, Rohan Halsall, Donald and Marie Baugh, Tony Robinson, Natalie Peterson and Tomlin Ellis.
