Dover Clash

It is the grand finale meet and David Summerbell believes he will again have Doug Gore's ticket in tomorrow's Heroes Day showdown at the Dover Raceway, St Ann.
Despite the late preparation of his Total-sponsored Evolution 8, which he used in the Barbados leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC), Summerbell has confidence his support crew will have him ready for race day.
"We had some problems clearing the car on time, but my mechanical team gave me the assurance it will be ready for the meet. The car has been getting better and better with every race meet and I believe I will have Doug Gore's ticket again," said Summerbell.
Faster car
Gore, however, responded to Summerbell's comment with a grin.
"We have done some work on the Evolution 5 and it is much faster now. Once I start up front on the grid, then I intend to lead from start to finish. David will have to catch me," said Gore, who admitted that Summerbell has been giving him a run for his money so far this year.
"It won't be like that next year, because I will be acquiring an Audi race car. This will be the last time fans at Dover will be seeing my Evolution 5 race car. When I go to Guyana for the final-leg of the CMRC, the car will be sold to a Guyanese," Gore told Automotives.
Both Summerbell and Gore will be challenged by Captain Marck Carey, Peter 'Zoom Zoom' Rae and Alan Chen.
Chen, the nephew of Dover founder Alfred Chen, confirmed he will be driving Peter 'Bull' Thompson's RX7 Mazda.
Podium finish
"I have not had enough seat time in Bull's car yet, but I will competing and hoping for at least a podium finish. But my focus will be on the MP 2 Class, in which I am leading," said Chen.
While he has his sights set on winning the MP 2 Championship, it wont be an easy task, as the defending champion, Tedroy Burton is coming all out with his Superior Auto-sponsored Honda. His sponsor, Derrick Johnson, has thrown his support behind him.
Based on his preparation, Peter Rae is expected to give an improved performance. He will be using tomorrow's meet as part of his preparation for the third-leg of the CMRC Championship in Guyana next month.
President of the Jamaica Race Drivers Club, Hilary Jardine said there will be 15 races. The event is set to begin at 9 a.m., followed by the open ceremony and a tribute to Alfred Chen.
"All the competitors will complete a lap in honour of Alfred [Chen]," said Jardine.
