WESTERN BUREAU:

The Soul Train invitation said, 'Darrell Burgess turned 30 - 'Wink, wink'', but those who know the man knows he passed that number years ago.

But it wasn't about Burgess' age at his birthday party last Sunday at his Grosvenor Terrace home in upper St Andrew; the excitement surrounded the decor and the '70s and '80s fashion that friends donned in keeping with the theme.

Using his favourite colours, black and gold with a hint of green, decorator Ruth Levy gave the DaVinci Jamaica Vacations operator a spectacular and inviting entrance to his kingdom.

Making use of the walkways, Levy built a dance floor equipped with a kaleidoscope of disco lights and a Soul Train backdrop for photo opportunities.

Black ottomans and cocktail tables draped in the same fabric brought back memories of Donna Summer's Bad Girl and Chic's Freak Out.

DJ Marlon Young did a fantastic job of taking guests down memory lane. Here are some pictorial memories of the event.
