Below are excerpts from online readers' reaction to Tuesday's lead story, 'Dudus to see proof'.
They can make a case
I hope they have more than what was posted on the State Department website, but then the prosecutors in the United States (US) have made cases with less. They have even managed to convict innocent people. Innocence or guilt has to do with perception: how the jury sees you, and at times, not necessarily the evidence presented.

'Dudus' supporters are fooling themselves
Once 'Dudus' and his lawyers read the reams of evidence piled up, and his chance for acquittal dwindles under its weight, then the negotiations can begin to determine if the information he may or may not be willing to share is worthy of a reduced sentence, in conjunction with a plea change.
The original not-guilty plea was simply a legal manoeuvre to start the process moving towards that end. Dudus' supporters and family are fooling themselves if they believe that the US Feds and Drug Enforcement Administration don't have a rock-solid case against this man. Under no circumstances would they have gone to this extent on a weak case.
It will be interesting to see how Dudus proves that any of his funding to pay lawyers is legitimate. Equally interesting will be if he has any information that the authorities don't already have to warrant a reduced sentence. My guess is he'll come up with a method to 'cleanse' enough of the funds but that his information will be, as they say, 'same old, same old news'.

Little too late for Jesus?
Mmm! 'Dudus' expressed his love for Jesus. Could this be a little too late? Maybe not. However, what we have to remember is while Jesus forgives sinners, no sin goes unpunished.
Brother Dudus, I would really be happy to know that you have repented of your sins but remember, the lord just doesn't expect you to repent. He expects you to spread his word and his word is love! Not extortion, not murder, not gun and cocaine and ganja trafficking, not inciting young followers to burn police stations, kill police and soldiers, violently challenging the state, etc.
