Godspeed, 'Miss Millie'
Millicent Forbes is only now to be offered official recognition by the State, parts of which might have considered her a nuisance.
But even those officials whom she irritated the most could only have admired, even if grudgingly, her tenacity and courage in seeking justice for her daughter, Janice Allen, who was killed by a policeman's bullet a decade ago.
She failed in the legal realm, but Millicent Forbes occupied the moral high ground and in her search for justice helped to expand the public law, from which we all will benefit.
Millicent Forbes died on Sunday, leaving far more than she brought into this world.
