Better law enforcement

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE SEEMINGLY harsh measures proposed to tackle criminality and gangsterism are commendable. However, in this pursuit, we should not ignore our existing laws and must seek to enforce them because they all are indeed interconnected.

Harsh measures must be taken against men who impregnate little girls. Lawmen should not ignore or allow obviously underage and pregnant girls to simply walk by them without making inquiries. Health providers, too, must be made accountable for not reporting incidents of pregnancies among minors, serious injuries and trauma cases to law-enforcement personnel.
