By 8:30 a.m., last week Sunday morning, there was standing room only as the entire church community came out to say farewell to Reverend Earl Morgan who had spent close to 46 years shepherding the flock at Barbican Baptist Church in St Andrew.

It was a memorable event and every item on the specially planned programme reflected the exemplary service Reverend Morgan had given to the Lord. Among those present were many adults who had been christened by Reverend Morgan, as well as couples who had been married by him and individuals whom he had baptised.

In his sermon, Reverend Morgan who goes into retirement said his 'navel string' was at the church and he felt like a father gathering his chidren and thanking them for tolerating him over the years. He reminded them that they should be Christians with a purpose, effective and obedient in service.

"God requires full commitment from all who serve Him and we must honour that commitment; many Christians are living below their full potential," he said. He urged them to make the five life-changing words found in the book of Isaiah - Here am I, send me -be theirs.

Here are some pictorial highlights of the service.
