As she prepares for her final hurrah on the world stage, sprint icon Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is confident the next generation will rise to the occasion and has labelled teammate and reigning national 100-metre champion Tina Clayton, as a “fierce competitor.”

Fraser-Pryce is set to wind down her illustrious career as she confirmed the 2025 World Athletics Championships will be her last time wearing the black, green and gold of Jamaica on the track.

While speaking on the future of women’s sprinting, the veteran athlete described Clayton as a top talent who can prove instrumental to Jamaica’s continued success.

“I think it's also new for Tina, but she has also been at the World Junior Championships and I think she's a double winner,” Fraser-Pryce said.

"She has that experience and if I know anything about her, she's a fierce competitor. She doesn't shy away from competition and I think that will serve her well and serve Team Jamaica well.”

Fraser-Pryce will compete in the women’s 100m, set for 4:55 a.m. on Saturday, Jamaica time, alongside Clayton and Shericka Jackson.
