Adelle Tracey ran a Jamaican record, 3:58.77 seconds, but still found herself some way off a place in a World Championships 1500-metre final after what was a brutal semi inside the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary earlier today.

Running in a stacked semi-final which included 1500 world record holder, Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon, Ethiopia’s Diribe Welteji, multiple champion, the Netherland’s Sifan Hassan, and Great Britain’s Laura Muir, the odds were stacked against Tracey.

Tracey ended seventh behind all those women in that order, with Australia’s Jessica Hull, running 3:57.85 for the sixth and final spot.

Kipyegan won in 3:55.14, followed by Welteji, 3:55.18, Hassan, with a season’s best 3:55.48, Muir, also in a season’s best 3:56.36, and Great Britain’s Katie Snowden, 3:56.72.
