Men of Might link up
WESTERN BUREAU:
Last weekend, Fidel and Leisa Dhana opened up their Pine Lodge Trail home in Davie, Florida, to host the Cornwall College Alumni Association, South Florida chapter Men of Might and alumnae of the Montego Bay High School.
Dhana, a Cornwallian, and his wife, who attended Montego Bay High, hosted just over 30 persons in true Jamaican style to an exciting array of food that included curried goat, jerked chicken, escoveitch fish and mannish water, infused with great music from Chester 'DJ Striker' Philp.
A Christmas thank you soiree, was how president of the CC Alumni Association, Egbert Clarke described the evening, weeks after staging their successful 22nd Annual Dinner and Dance.
Lauding the Dhanas for their kindness, Clarke admitted that it was a difficult task to run a volunteer organisation, but with the dedication and passion that was built by Cornwall College in the minds of their past students, they have been able to have an impact on the lives of many.
"As we move into the New Year, I ask our members to give a little bit more," he implored, adding that he was thinking of the big picture for Cornwall College.
Having accomplished several projects, the South Florida chapter gives more than US$40,000 per year to its alma mater. To date, its proudest moment has been the rebuilding of the football field.
