Man gunned down while walking in Spanish Town

The St Catherine North police are searching for the person(s) responsible for the fatal shooting of a man along King Street in Spanish Town on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Charlie Whyte of Rivoli in Spanish Town.

The police report that about 1:30 p.m., Whyte was walking along the roadway when he was pounced upon and shot by unknown assailant(s).

The police were summoned to the scene.

The injured man was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The police have not established a motive for the murder.

The Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch is probing the matter.
