The Wisynco Group today officially opened its new US$35-million brewery and manufacturing facility in Lakes Pen, St Catherine.

Chief Executive Officer of Wisynco, Andrew Mahfood, said the facility will significantly expand the company’s production capacity, strengthen its ability to meet growing market demand, and provide greater flexibility to diversify its product portfolio in meaningful ways.

He noted that the investment formally positions Wisynco in the brewing category, with the facility now producing beers, stouts, malts, and ready-to-drink beverages.

These include Worthy Park mixed rum-based beverages and Stone Ginger Wine, all manufactured locally for domestic consumption.

Mahfood stated that the naming of the facility — the Devon H. Reynolds Manufacturing Facility — in honour of Wisynco’s longest-serving production manager, recognising more than four decades of dedicated service to the company, stands as one of his proudest accomplishments.

He also paid tribute to Wisynco’s workforce, highlighting the company’s strong employment record and the significant opportunities created by the new investment.

“This new facility represents a major step forward in our manufacturing capability. It brings new employment for 285 team members — 85 in direct production roles and approximately 200 in indirect roles, including sales, distribution, and marketing,” he said.

At the ceremony, the company officially launched several new products: Legend Beer, M÷Powa Malt, a non-alcoholic malt beverage, and Mamba Stout.

Mahfood said Wisynco is “extremely proud” to introduce these offerings to the Jamaican market.

Pointing to growth potential, he noted that beer consumption in Jamaica remains relatively low compared with other Caribbean territories and North America.

“The brewing market in Jamaica has the potential to double or even triple in the years to come,” he said, adding that Wisynco intends to play a central role in expanding the size of the market.

The new facility represents one of Wisynco’s most significant manufacturing investments to date, underscoring the company’s confidence in Jamaica’s industrial and consumer growth prospects.
