Two persons were killed in a motor vehicle crash along the Cooper's Pen main road in Trelawny on Sunday night, according to a preliminary police report.

The incident occurred about 9:50 p.m. in the vicinity of the Royalton Hideaway Resort and involved a white Mercedes-Benz motor car.

The driver and a passenger died. Their names, genders and ages were not immediately available.

Preliminary information from the police suggests that the collision may have been caused by excessive speed, a loss of control of the vehicle, and an apparent error of judgment or negligence.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.

Three road fatalities deaths have been reported so far this year, from two collisions.
