Two men shot dead in alleged police confrontation in Old Harbour

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched a probe into the fatal shooting of two unidentified men by the police during an alleged armed confrontation in Old Harbour, St Catherine on Friday night.

Reports are that about 7:45 p.m., the police were conducting an operation along the Gutters main road near Old Harbour, in the vicinity of Cherry Gardens Farm.

The men were reportedly accosted by the police when they allegedly confronted the police team.

The police said they took evasive action and opened fire, hitting both men.

An illegal gun was allegedly seized from the scene.

The injured men were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

INDECOM investigators have since visited the scene as part of their probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
