From Negril’s sands to runways in Paris, Jamaica is everywhere, whether it’s The Business of Fashion spotlighting Rachel Scott, Wales Bonner redefining sneakers, or Sweet Like JAM making its Negril landing.

Consider this week’s round-up your reminder: fashion is having a global conversation — and Jamaica’s got the mic.

RACHEL SCOTT NAMED TO THE BOF 500

Global media company and digital publication The Business of Fashion has dropped The BoF Class of 2025, its list of people shaping the global fashion industry, and it’s a bumper year for designers shaking up global runways. Among the shiny new inductees is Rachel Scott, the Jamaican-born founder and creative mind behind Diotima and newly minted creative director of Proenza Schouler.

She joins a line-up of industry powerhouses, including Julian Klausner at Dries Van Noten, Meryll Rogge at Marni, Michael Rider at Celine, Simone Bellotti at Jil Sander, and Veronica Leoni at Calvin Klein. This year’s list was distilled from 528 nominations and highlights leadership, creativity, innovation and impact across eight categories.

WALES BONNER’S ADIDAS MAGIC

Meanwhile, British-Jamaican designer Grace Wales Bonner continues her reign as sportswear’s soulful disruptor. Her Adidas Originals Fall/Winter 2025 collection updates the Japan Lo, Karintha Lo, and Adilette in shades of light purple, better scarlet, and the kind of velvety indigos that make sneakers look like runway royalty.

Recognised recently as one of 11 black designers who shaped fashion history by TheIndustry.fashion, Wales Bonner’s partnership with Adidas Originals began in 2020 and notably kick-started the Samba revival. Expect the next drop before December .

MARTINE ROSE X NAPAPIJRI: TAKE TWO

Also joining the collab carousel, Martine Rose has reunited with Napapijri for a Fall/Winter 2025 line that balances utility with subversive cool. Think curly wool fleeces, striped terry sweatshirts, and polos with distinctive patterns. Their earlier run from 2017 to 2019 is still remembered for reshaping sportswear conversations — now, the partnership feels like a revival with sharper edges and a more defined aesthetic.

GRETA LEE DOES ‘TRON’ CHIC IN DIOTIMA

On the red carpet, actress Greta Lee is rewriting method dressing. At a London press stop for Tron: Ares, she appeared in a fresh-off-the-runway Diotima Spring 2026 gown. The grey jersey knit maxi, traced with navy piping, mirroring the Tron bikes from the franchise’s past films.

Styled by Danielle Goldberg, Lee paired it with strappy black sandals and a slicked-back bun, letting the dress ride solo.

British-Jamaican actress Jodie Turner-Smith also hit the London carpet in Thierry Mugler Haute Couture, having kicked things off last week at Comic-Con Málaga. Styled by Law Roach, she wore a Greta Constantine x FUGNITTO creation — a collaboration between the brand owned by Jamaican-Canadian designers Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong and Mario Fugnitto, emblazoned with bold black ‘Jamaica’ lettering across a red leather bodice. Turner-Smith has been rotating through Schiaparelli and Givenchy, too — because subtlety is overrated.

SWEET LIKE JAM IN NEGRIL

Back on the island, fashion wasn’t confined to glossy runways. Sweet Like JAM, the curated retail platform by famed stylist and JAM founder Mecca James-Williams, hosted its first pop-up store at Skylark Negril. Getting its fashionable start on September 25, the installation runs through the Skylark Film Festival and ends on October 9, featuring looks and artisanal goods from more than 30 designers across the Jamaican diaspora — including Diotima, Theophilio, and Bianca Saunders. The pop-up also features a designer panel with Saunders, Theophilio’s Edvin Thompson, and Tribe Nine Studios’ Troy Oraine Williamson.
