Letter of the Day | We all must take responsibility
THE EDITOR, Madam:
MY FELLOW Jamaicans, as a man of God from the Anglican Church in Jamaica & the Cayman Islands and also the PRO of a school PTA committee, I believe that this coronavirus will be over soon and we will see a light at the end of tunnel.
We as citizens must take personal responsibility to protect ourselves and don’t depend on the political directorate to do it for us, because the prime minister and all the MPs are policymakers, where they take advise from civil society to help steer the economy.
Many are calling for the country to close down, and I understand your view. But look on the broader picture, if the prime minister should do that we would have a massive problem in the economy, such as the loss of revenue, and this would result in financial problems.
So, my advice to all is that we have to work with the Government by following their instructions. In St Catherine, the citizens have four days to do their shopping. You don’t have go out on the same day and crowd the place; use your discretion.
Finally, I must commend the Holness administration and Dr Christopher Tufton and his medical staff for a good job in communicating and protecting the people.
The Church must pray for them, because only God can deliver us.
