North-South Highway to be renamed in honour of Edward Seaga
The North-South Highway is to be renamed the Edward Seaga Highway in honour of Jamaica's fifth Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement Thursday at the re-dedication ceremony of the Bustamante Museum in Kingston.
The Cabinet gave approval on Monday, but the prime minister gave no indication as to when the official renaming will take place.
Seaga joins a list of prime ministers to have highways named after them, the most recent being PJ Patterson.
The North South Highway was officially opened by Holness in 2016. It carries an investment of US$600 million and covers a distance of 67 km from Caymanas in St Catherine to Mammee Bay in St Ann.
